Same Data.
Different Story.
The numbers can stay exactly the same while the story changes.
Analysts make choices whenever they communicate a finding: which number becomes the headline, which comparison is emphasized, whether to describe the people who experience something or those who do not, and how much context to provide.
What this demonstrates
Data storytelling • Framing • Analytical judgment • Responsible communication
Data: 2025 Greater Boston Jewish Community Study
Created by Daniel Parmer, PhD
About this experiment: Every presentation in this experiment uses the same underlying study results. None requires changing or misrepresenting the data. The point is that accuracy alone does not make a presentation neutral. Analytical choices influence what audiences notice—and potentially what they decide to do next. Choose a measure and change its framing to see how those choices affect the impression the data create.
